Our Story

Castanea Farms LLC is owned and operated by Jen and Rick Hartlieb. The 1870 farm is situated in western Berks county. We produce a variety of specialty crops, with our specialty being chestnuts! We are one of the few commercial chestnut producers in the eastern USA. Fresh chestnuts are available from October 1 through Thanksgiving (or sold out). We plan to add dried frozen kernels and chestnut flour to our product lines soon. We are also home to a small PYO strawberry patch which is open in June. Hours are by appointment or self serve in the farm stand.
