Our Story
“Living the Dream” that’s what we call our new life style. But how did we arrive at this point in our lives? Let’s step back a couple of years and take a look…
In 2008, we relocated to Western PA due to a work transfer. We found an ad in the REC magazine for a small farm in Erie County, PA and several weeks later, we arrived at the farm for a tour. It was exactly what we have been looking for and on 16 November 2012 we officially were the owners of the 5 Gallon Dog Ranch in Corry, PA. It is now August 2022, we have ‘survived’ 10 NW PA winters, learned to harvest our hay when ‘the sun shines’, help new born lambs learn to nurse from a first-time mom, watch the baby chicks grow into feathery birds, and yes thoroughly enjoy morning coffee on the front porch and listening to all of the country night sounds. Our sheep and chicken flocks keep growing. Animals are truly a blessing and allow us to see how God created these beautiful creatures and gave them the natural ability to grow and mature all through the different annual seasons. We keep our grandchildren involved as much as possible and it is such a joy to see their eyes light up and their big smiles when they hold that newborn lamb! At the end of the day there really isn’t much work involved to keep our sheep flock happy: good hay, fresh water and a little grain. As I was plowing snow from the driveway one morning, as Sheli swept the front porch, I stopped and thanked God for allowing us to “Live the Dream"!
