Our Story

Both sets of grandparents worked the land - My paternal grandparents had a 30 Heiffer Dairy Herd in Potter County and a few miles down the road my maternal grandparents had an apple orchard and milked dairy goats. Growing up, I learned to knit and crochet, wanted to learn how to spin fiber but spinning wheels were way out of my price range. Fast forward a few decades and I see alpacas for the first time at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. "If I had fiber animals like alpacas, then I could learn to spin." "I would need a farm replete with barn, pastures, fencing, water....." Fifteen years later ago my husband and I purchased 34 acres, 7 miles from Emporium, PA and began the farming adventure. The property had a house, garage, barn and 16 acres of flat pastureland with a stream separating the balance of the property from a wooded hillside. Over the years we installed water lines to the various pastures fenced to accomplish rotational grazing, electric and water to the barn and even built a 2-car garage to house the girl alpacas with an apartment on the second floor where we host Airbnb and VRBO guests providing a farm stay - off-grid experience. I still haven't purchased a spinning wheel, but my interest in fiber arts has led me to obtain a 4-shaft table loom as well as a 4-shaft and 8-shaft floor loom where I weave various household items such as rugs, small blankets and kitchen towels. I joined PAOBA, Pennsylvania Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association Fiber committee.
